Samantha Shepard is a Master’s student in the Higher Education Management program and working as a Graduate Assistant in the Graduate School of Education at the University of Pennsylvania. She graduated from Stanford University in 2006 with a Bachelor’s degree in History and was a pole vault competitor on Stanford’s Track and Field Team. After graduation she continued the relationship with her alma mater as an Admissions Counselor in the Office of Undergraduate Admission through March of 2009. Her professional interests are primarily in admissions and educational advising. Her experience in undergraduate admissions, graduate admissions, and collegiate athletics has fostered her growing interest in the field of Division I-A athletics and higher education, and the issue of access and choice for student-athletes. She also plans to academically and professionally explore development and alumni relations in higher education. Samantha’s free time goes to family and friends, running, yoga, reading, and oil painting.
